Hi,

Thanks for the yahoo group reference! I went to that group and spoke with Laurel Butts (Rob Butt’s wife who he married after Jane died), and several others on the site, and they confirmed that it is not the same Jane Roberts. Jane Roberts the psychic/writer did not appear in the movie, “The Lathe of Heaven.” I believe that misinformation was reported in the NationMasters encyclopedia article, because, like Wikipedia, it can be edited by anyone, and someone probably assumed it was the same Jane Roberts, especially since the movie is about psychic dreams!

The actress that played the grandmother in “The Lathe of Heaven” is actually:

I have also seen the movie, and again, that woman looks nothing like Jane Roberts the writer/psychic.

As mentioned above, I found the article in the Nation Master Encyclopedia online. If you want to check the validity of the statement, concerning Jane’s alleged appearance in The Lathe of Heaven, I suggest you start by visiting: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SethJaneRoberts/. Laurel Davies Butts, Robert Butt’s widow often spends time on this discussion board. Maybe she can put you in touch with Tam Mossman, Jane’s old editor at Prentice Hall. Also, many of Jane and Rob’s psychic class students from the 70s hang out there.

The Lathe of Heaven was a 1979 film based on the Science Fiction novel The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula Le Guin.”

I’m wondering where you got this information from. I saw it on the “Lathe of Heaven” Wikipedia page, but I believe it is a mistake. The actress who played the grandmother in that film is named Jane Roberts, but she looks completely different, is much older, and appeared in other films as well. So, I’ve been trying to find the source of this rumor to see if it is indeed true, or if it is a mistake based on their names.

If you have a source for this information, could you post it?
